REVISION !! CARTOON of the DAY / I HATE this kind of card !!

SORRY ! I inadvertently skipped these two panels the first time !

Is it me or are these types of cards just plain aggravating ?!!

Are they Tribe cards or Giant/Cub cards ? They certainly played with the Indians in the years they were issued, 1997 and 2009. I save these with my Tribe collection. But sometimes I just don't like the way they look with the rest of my cards.

I realize sometimes the players get traded or sign with new teams before the card companies have new photos, but do they have to (or should they ?) change the logo and team name ? When we have a great, new closer, I'm anxious to have an Indian card of him but not still wearing Cub blues !

How do the rest of you feel about this ?

  1. I don't know any collector who likes these cards.

From an organizing standpoint, I consider players listed as Dodgers but wearing a uniform of their old team as worthy of going in the Dodger binder. Those who are wearing Dodger uniforms but are listed as with another team, get banished to shoeboxes/other less prestigious binders.

But it really pains me to go through my Dodger binder, see all that wonderful blue, then all of a sudden there's a guy in a green Rays jersey listed with the Dodgers.

    Ugh!

  2. These cards drive me batty. I have many of these types and sometimes I keep them as part of my collection and other times, I don't. I have no rhyme or reason, and will probably never 'complete' my collection in part because of cards like those...

  3. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone on this.

  4. I hate these cards for the same reason. Are they trying to please both teams?

The Wood card is esecially odd. It's a "painting", right? Can't they "paint" an Indians uniform as easily as a Cubs?

  5. I have recently reviewed my entire collecting philosophy and Tribe cards with the player in another team's uniform are being eliminated completely. This includes my 1963 Fleer Dick Donovan who is wearing a Washington Senator's hat. It sounds like I may have trouble finding anyone else who will want these cards in a trade!

  6. What Section 36 said.

Wondering what made you decide to review and rework your philosophy, Kentucky Harold?
