Relics and hardware from Crackin' Wax

Way last fall, before most of us were thinking too much about 2013 Topps, topher over at Crackin' Wax was headin' up a case break. I decided to jump on the band wagon early and bought into a spot.

Later as checklists showed up, I knew I wouldn't be getting a large set, but I did do alright with the Tribe.

Yep, that's my entire team set from Series 1. Won't even fill up one page in my binder. But, there won't be so many parallels to chase either !

Speaking of which, these are the two Chasing History inserts

Victor Martinez held the Indian record for the most HR's in a season, by a switch hitter, with 25.
Carlos Santana broke it in 2011 with 27.

Bob Feller, in 1946, was trying to break the single-season strikeout mark of 349 but fell one short.

I did get a good jump on Justin Masterson's rainbow with an emerald and a blue border, to go with his base card.

Albert Belle's mannerisms and personality may have left a little to be desired, but he could flat hit the ball !
He clubbed HR's and doubles, in 1995, on his way to becoming baseball's first 50/50 man.

I was a little disappointed in this card.

I thought there might be a slight sign of cork in the wood, but it looks pretty clear !

And last but not least.....

a very cool Cliff Lee, Cy Young Award card.

I'm not sure just how I'm going to display this, it's a strong 1/4" thick.

The three-dimensional trophy is really nice and feels like it's actually made of metal.

Thanks so much to topher and Crackin' Wax for this break !

I couldn't be happier with my haul and now the search is on for the rest of the Tribe cards in Series 1.

  1. This comment isn't sport specific, but I wanted to say that I really like the photo in the header of your blog.

Feller and Satch are two of my favorite pitchers from back in the day. What a cool shot!

    1. Thanks! I really liked that too. I still have to rework the header a little to make it all fit better. I've been trying to revamp the whole site.

  2. Glad you were able to join in! Also glad that I was able to pull that Lee in an Indians uni for ya! :) Just waiting on Spring Fever and Silver Slate packs to show up. If I pull any Indians, they'll be headed your way.

    Thanks again!
