Just got home from Illinois and 30,000 isn't much to some of you !

Actually, I've been back since Saturday night, but I'm just getting caught up with things and trying to get settled back into some sort of rhythm. I am a very routine type of guy and usually try to stick to schedules but when on vacation that is sometimes hard to do.

Tonight, as my dashboard appeared, I noticed I had hit 30,003 page views ! I know that is merely a drop in the bucket for most of you but it means a lot to me. I really want to post more often and on a more regular schedule, along with trying to make the blog more interesting and informative. That is part of my goal for this year and the year is going by very quickly so I need to buckle down.

OK !  Illinois !
For those who may not know, our youngest son is a sports writer/editor/photographer for the Leader-Union in Vandalia, Il. My wife and I spent all of last week with Andy and his wife Liz. The Leader-Union is a weekly so Andy was able to take three days off  and Liz got one day from her job at Sunny Days daycare center. We were able to visit some flea markets, antique shops and  GOODWILL STORES !  You know how I like them !  Here are a few of my new treasures.

1991 Coke postcard. Original painting entitled " Play Refreshed" . 1952 by Haddon Sundblom.

I always look for baseball related lottery tickets when I travel to different states. There is a White Sox ticket also but this particular store only had these. I carefully scratched only the code number at the bottom to keep the design intact. The Cardinals ticket was a $4 winner, so these tickets were free !

A small antique store had a tray full of these at "only" $ 1.00 each !

So I looked around a little more and found this whole lot, for the same $1.00.

This Baseball Digest from 1971 is very interesting. Some of the old ads are really amusing . The Walt Alston story about how artificial turf may change the game was really good also.

I'm a sucker for anything baseball. This is a 1974 "Moppets" figurine. Couldn't pass it up !

And who could leave an old VHS baseball movie behind. I don't really remember this and haven't watch it yet. Maybe I'll give it a review at a later date.

No ID on this bobblehead. There was a label on the bottom but it had been mostly removed.

It's getting late tonight. My routine is to be in bed at 10 PM and read for about an hour.
Next time I'll show some cards I picked up, show and tell about a very unique museum and a couple non baseball items.

  6. Your post title got me singing this morning...

Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch.
Imagination sets in, pretty soon I'm singing,

Doo, doo, doo, Looking out my back door.
