Free cards part 2 - Nolan Ryan the Cowboy

Is everyone ready for round two ?

Right off the bat last night, the very first two comments claimed the same card.
The bad part, the date and time stamps were EXACTLY  the same.
Night Owl, The Dimwit and I had a very heated conferance call.
Actually, it was just a few emails back and forth and everyone was very calm and collected.
A deal was worked out and both Night Owl and The Dimwit still have a free choice card.

See, we are just big happy family !!

Here comes the next selection of cards for my free card, blog birthday give-a-way !

If you are just joining us tonight, you can find the complete rules and details right here.

Free cards ! Make sure you read the rules !!

Hi guys and gals !

Sorry I'm a little late tonight !

The show is about to begin, and let me tell you, picking out cards to give a way is not as easy as it sounds! Plus I got home a little late tonight so I was trying to hurry so I wouldn't be too far past 9:00 PM. If you didn't read my last post, please do. All the rules for getting a free card are in that post and there are some things you need to know.

If there are any more questions or comments feel free to leave them here at any time. Your comments will not count as a free card choice unless you specifically say you want a certain card.

When free card choices start coming in, they will be addressed by the date stamp, in case two people choose the same card. Obviously, the earliest comment will get the card. This is a very small selection tonight. The next two will be larger and, hopefully, much more exciting !

I really have no idea as to how many cards to post, hopefully there will be enough. I normally get 40 -50 page views but that may increase. When this is all over, if you didn't get a card, email me and we will figure something out !

A blog birthday contest you're guaranteed to win....but you might lose !!

Friday, November 16, 2012

All-Tribe Baseball will be four years old !

18 days later, Baseball Dad will be 62 !

Yep, the age of social security.

Will I retire ?

Don't know yet.

Certainly not from collecting cards or blogging.

The title mentioned contest. Confused ? I sure am. Tomorrow night, Thursday night and Friday night, I'm going to be posting cards. All you have to do to win, is pick a card you would like to have and leave a comment on that post. The first person to comment about a card, wins that card. It's that simple !  Oh, wait. You can only claim one card per person. ( of course, a few others may fall into the package before I ship it to you ! )  So if you claim a card tomorrow night you win ! But if a card comes up on Thursday or Friday that you would rather have, you lose !!  You still get the first card you claimed, but you may wish that you had waited and got something you like more !

So what if you see a card tomorrow you like, but wait to see if something better shows up ? Then nothing else shows up, that interests you, so you go back to Wednesday's post to claim the first card, only to find that someone else has claimed it !!  Yeah, could be some tough decisions. Also, I don't want to see any deleted comments !! No changing your mind ! Once you claim a card, the decision is final. I'll be checking regularly. No cheating boys and girls, keep it fun and friendly !!

I will try to have cards posted by 9:00 PM  EST on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Possibly a little later on Friday.

My wife and I are taking Friday off for a little R&R to Amish country to visit a Christmas store and a few other places and we may be late getting home.

I'm not sure just how many there will be, but I will try to have a good mix of teams, players and cards.

If you have any questions, leave a comment on this post or send me an email.

Good Luck !!

Indians for Orioles Trade with foul bunt

A month or so ago I got an email from William over at foul bunt . He said he had a small stack of Indian cards he would send  if he could be in line for few Orioles. Well, most of my Orioles trades have been with another popular "bird site",  but I have plenty to go around ! If you don't believe me just ask my wife !

She'd love to see me send a lot of cards out to everyone and not get anything back.

Of course, that's not  happening !

Actually, I keep all my cards in my little room and she keeps all her crafty and scrapbooking stuff in her little room and we get along just fine !! For almost 33 years now.

Anyway, back to the trade.  This is part of what I received from William.

Jason Kipnis
Jason is the only Indian since Jim Thome that I have considered starting a separate binder for.

Now we go back in time to 1974.
Frank Duffy was like of lot Tribe players.Pretty decent in the field but couldn't hit.
He came to the Indians from the S.F. Giants with Gaylord Perry for Sam McDowell in late 1971.

Asdrubal Cabrerra, our current shortstop (as of this writing !) And my old friend Jim Thome.

Kenny Lofton and Albert Belle. These two guys created a lot of memories in Cleveland.

Choo. Will we be able to retain him ? Probably not with Scott Boras involved.
I do like these Bowman cards though.

Hopefully these two young guns will come through in 2013. We can use their bats.

Casey Blake gold !  These 2008 Topps gold versions seem to be hard to find.

And finally, look at that smile !
All those great years in Baltimore but he waited until he came to Cleveland to get his 3000 th hit !

William, thanks for the trade and the great Indian cards !

You should be getting a package from me next week.

Night Owl, I'm not living quite as "right" this year !

Last year, just about this time, I picked up a single pack of retail A&G and pulled my second ever redemption card .

I stopped at the same Meijers store and bought a single pack of 2012  a couple days ago.

A&G  back Carlos Lee mini.

Johnny (I'm glad you didn't win after leaving Cleveland) Peralta.

Nelson (Betcha' can't read what's written on my bat knob) Cruz

And who ??

Oh, a "Superstar" electronic gamer. I'm going to have to check out his website.

Pardon the delay....

He's won $500,000.00 and a new car for playing games !!??

I need to practice up.

Maybe I can get 500k for this :

Well.....maybe not !

I do like that Meijers store though.

I pulled another hit there once.

I don't think I've ever shown this before and I didn't think about it after I pulled Cheryl.(my mind must have been somewhere else)

Back in 1999-2000 I bought a pack of Upper Deck "A Piece of History"

and

pulled

this...

Not necessarily my favorite, but probably the best card in my collection.

That would explain one thing. One time when I took some packs to the checkout, the clerk, a gentleman about my age, said he had seen a fellow going through the card boxes feeling each pack.

Oh, crap !!

Now everyone will go there!

Attention !!!

This whole post was a hoax.

Do not go to the Sandusky Meijers store to buy sports cards.
Especially the racks right by the check outs.
