Tradin' Time in Portugal

Every once in a while I used to see a random comment from someone who called herself Ana Lu.

I didn't think to much about it because there are a lot of folks who read some of our humble blogs.

Recently, I discovered that Ana Lu has her own blog now ! She does  a great job of analyzing cards and has a very interesting outlook on collecting. You can read her words of wisdom at Hobby Cards of Europe.

We had a few conversations via email and decided to work out a trade.

Here are some of the goodies that I received in her package !

She has followed my meager blog enough to know I collect wrappers.
I received a nice little stack including a couple I can use in my collection !

There was also this interesting piece.

A  "You Crash the Game" checklist
that I have never seen before.

Ana Lu was worried that she didn't have many Cleveland Indian cards to send
 but picked some nice ones.
I needed the Jason Donald rookie card, and she also
included my favorite player, Jason Kipnis!

Next she touched on my love for the history of the game.

I love this set !

I have some others to go with them.

Even a wrapper in my collection !

Situated right next to the 1995 Denny's wrapper is the
1995 Comic Images
Phil Rizzuto's
"The National Pastime".

Thanks go out to Ana Lu,
for a great trade package !!

Oh No ! P-Town Tom and Brad

More current trades keep coming in and packages keep going out!

Ah, the life of a baseball card blogger. ( or maybe lack of ! )

Ryan, over at  Oh No, Another Orioles Blog, and I made a small but quick PWE trade.

He had some new Bowman Indians I needed. So I sent him a package about the same time he sent me one. The only problem was.... I didn't know he had moved !  He said he didn't think he would have any trouble getting cards, so Ryan, if you haven't yet, I hope you do soon or I will send some replacements.

Actually, the Gold Santana was the key to the trade.
The Cabrera and Topps Kipnis came along for the ride.

I love Kipnis.
I hope he will be one of the very few who spend a career with one team.
I'm almost ready to start a separate binder for him.

Thanks, Ryan
For the great cards!

BTW
Ryan is also running a 2013 Topps Minis break and has a link to
an A&G break. You can get a discount for joining both !

check it out !

Now it just so happens, that P-Town Tom over at Wait 'till Next Year , also had some Bowman for trade. So naturally we struck a deal also !

More Gold !!
Cabrera, Swisher  and Reynolds
All in golden glory !

       But there's more !

Danny Salazar  Chrome prospect
Bauer and Bourn base cards.

And more....

I got Iced !!

Dorssys Paulino

A top prospect for the future.

And just for good measure,

A few seasoned veterans
from 2001 Topps Archives.

Thanks Tom, for the great cards !

The following cards came from Brad over at, where else ?,  Brad's Blog !

Actually I requested a dual Bagwell/Biggio bat card that Brad offered for trade.
I wanted it for my son who collects Bags.
Brad also included some extra Astros for Josh and a few Indians for me !

More Bowman !
Shiny chrome.
Howard and Cabrera....nice !

More Cabrera.
Not sure if he is long for Cleveland or not,
lots of local trade talks.

Francona thinks Chisenhall's  bat is still going to really come alive
so he may safe for a while

Now Topps Chrome !

More Cabrera, really like that shot.

And Kipnis, my favorite.
Hopefully they will sign him long term.

Oldies but goodies !
These were pretty high tech cards at the time.

More Bowman !

Nice Santana!

Nice Lindor !
The main reason Cabrera may be traded.

And...wait.. didn't we already see Howard ?

Let me go back and check...

let's see, Upper Deck, Topps Chrome,
Topps, Bowman Chrome.

Yep, two Dillon Howards!
No problem, I can always use dupes !

I like these cards too.
They bring back the good old days!

Thanks for the great cards Brad, oh, and here's the card
I'm sending you for the Bagwell !

Now the embarrassing part.

My desk got petty cluttered for a while.

Some things got mixed up and lost.
( no Brad, not your card! )

I lost a note.
I think one of these guys sent some wrappers...
but I'm not sure who !

Thanks !!

These are nice.
Especially the Hobby Version Archives.

I had the 7-card retail pack.
Now I have the 8-card Hobby version !

And these, I have not found anywhere yet.

Thanks Guys,

for everything !!

Night Owl, NE Red Sox, Lost Collector - Before They Become LTPP

 LTPP

Lost Trade Package Posts

I still have 5 of those to do.

So I'm trying to keep up with current ones so I don't get way behind again.

Unless you are the sender or the receiver of the package, most of the time, trade posts are boring. But I feel it's something that should be done, as a courtesy to the sender. That way, you know the cards you sent got to the recipient, that they like them and other bloggers, especially newer ones, can see how the system works.

Sometimes, it seems that trades is all I post about. When I first started this blog, I was very good at posting trades as I received them and it didn't seem so bad. Hopefully I can get back to that system.

So now I'll get off my soap box and get back to this boring trade post!

Of course, it's not boring to me !

First is a quick trade with Metallattorney from Red Sox Fan in Nebraska

With the blue border and the colors of the uniform,
this is a really sharp card!
Plus I got rid of a pesky (not Johnny) Red Sox card.
Win, win for both of us !

Thanks for the trade !

Next up is everyone's favorite nocturnal fine feathered friend,

Night Owl and I, as is with many bloggers, don't often request cards from each other. We know what each other is interested in and randomly send out care packages.

2010 Topps curled up chromies.
He, very understandably, has no use for this product.
I don't think there is any  way to flatten out these cards.

I will hang on to this Santana refractor rookie card though.

There was also this Ginter back Choo mini.

But the best part was these.

Maybe Greg was blinded by all the chrome
when he stuck these ' 75 Topps in my package.
But there's even more!

1975 Topps minis !

I have 8 minis now.
I still need four cads to complete my team set.
Steve Arlin
Gaylord Perry
Frank Robinson
Team Card

Most are readily available on ebay at reasonable prices.
But I would love make trades for them !

There was also some newer Tribe cards in the package.
 Gold Chris Perez
Holographic Santana Chasing History.

Thanks for the great cards!

And last but not least,

I haven't had any dealings with The Lost Collector for quite awhile but I just received a PWE from him. With PWE's you just never know what might be inside, but it had been so long, I wasn't expecting a lot.

First,

1990 Topps Big Candy Maldonado.
(which I actually needed in my collection!)

Next,

a terrific 1997 Pacific Collection Omar Vizquel.
This is from the "Liga Americana" insert set.
Another, very sharp card, which I also needed.

But, were not done yet.

1977 Topps team card !

Another hit for my collection !

For being "The Lost Collector"
you sure found what I needed !

Thanks all of you for the great cards!

Best of all, while I was writing this post,
The Tribe whipped the Twins 7-1 !

Go Tribe !

Trading Purple for Blue as in Shin-Soo Choo

Matt, over at Red Cardboard, had some Tribe cards up for trade.

Everyone knows I'm always looking for Indian cardboard !

When I saw this card, I knew I needed to strike up a deal.

I had an Opening Day Purple Choo ,as a Red. which didn't fit in my collection,
but this blue one sure does!

I received a nice assortment of Tribe cards.
Here are some of the highlights.

A very nice gold Josh Tomlin.

Some hard to find Heritage Tribers.

More gold !
Carlos Santana and Bob Feller, Chasing History

Finally, a couple of oldies but goodies.
Tomorrow I'm going to come up with
a want list for for Documentary.
I would like to complete the Indian set.

Thanks for the great trade, Matt.

We are only about 100 miles apart on I-71,
Maybe we can get together with the other bloggers
down the interstate!

Poppin' Up Jimmy Piersall

I try to read as many posts from as many bloggers as I can.

I probably don't comment as much as I could, or should, but I am trying to improve on that.

Obviously catchy titles catch your attention.

Now what could catch my attention better than
" Trading Thursdays - Cleveland Indians Edition ".

That's the title Bert, from Swing and a Pop-Up  had posted.

I jumped right on that, and one item in particular caught my eye right away.

I emailed an offer, which was accepted, and was informed that I would also be receiving some extra cards from my favorite teams or players. Cool ! Who am I to turn down more Tribe cards.

When the package arrived, it was just stuffed full !

Here are some of the extras.

1989 Topps Big for my Jim Abbott binder.

The huge stack of cards ranged from a 1980 Eric Wilkins to a 2013 Michael Brantley.

A very nice Eddie Murray for my Masterpiece Collection.

I realize these don't have the allure and charisma they once had but I still enjoy them.
Some of the designs do make very good looking cards.

I'm not sure if Bert knew what this was or not,
but I definitely needed it in my Thome collection.

From the front it looks like a plain Jane,
 2002 Fleer base card.

But, flip it over....

......and you'll see it's an elusive Gold Back version.
The card #, stats and "Did You Know" notations are all in gold foil.

This was part of the original deal.
1990 Topps Coin Tom Candiotti.
These were an interesting concept at the time,
but never really caught on with collectors.

Getting back to what caught my eye....

1962 Salada- Junket coin.

This is actually #88a, 88b depicts Piersall as a Senator.
Another blogger sent me a Bubba Phillips once, so I now have two of these.

Thanks Bert, for the great cards and collectibles !

Miggy and Pokey Growing Up

Sometimes I get so hung up on trying to find every Indian card, I don't take time out to smell the
roses  cardboard.

This evening I was searching for some cards to fill a few trades and came upon a box of odd, but interesting material, I had been saving for some time.

Hence, the title, and these two cards

2001 Royal Rookies Miguel Cabrera.
Signed at 17 for $1.9 M.
Card says he has great eye, compact swing and power plus.
Yeah, pretty much !

1996 Classic Five Sport Calvin Reese.
First round draft choice.
Rated best defensive SS and best infield arm
by Baseball America.
Considered Cincinnati's top prospect.
right again !

And here's another guy with a reasonably bright future.

1987 ProCards
He was 4 years old when I graduated from HS.

Well, how about a real Cracker Jack card ?

This is a normal sized card.
I assume  it was a stadium give-a-way.

Evan the Oil companies got involved.

1984 Cramer Sports Promotions
.305 ave. in 4 minor league seasons.

Courtesy of Pacific Trading Cards

Now I need a little help.

I acquired these two stickers but know absolutely nothing about them.

They both measure about 1 5/8 x 2 1/8.

Has anyone ever seen any like this before?
Do you know where they came from?
